An Elegy for Five Old Ladies

An Elegy is a poem that is written to mourn someone’s death. In An Elegy for Five Old Ladies, the poet pays homage to five ladies who died in an unlucky ride. Their sedan took them to their death. He calls them ‘very chaste daughters of one unlucky ride’ and ‘five loyal spouses of death’. He also prays that God have mercy on their recreation.

Landscape

In this poem, a conversation is seen between a person and a child about mountains, islands, sun, moon, vortex and mother. The child calls the woman his mother whom he calls older than the moon. Then the person asks the child to paint her in his own way, the child takes his pencil and crosses out the sun from his painting.
